My Journey to becoming a Fitness Fanatic

The start of my journey

My journey in health began 20 years ago, after I had my 2nd child. I had gained almost 60lbs and kept an extra 30lbs!! I was trying every diet there was to get back down to a healthy weight. I tried the Atkins diet, weight watchers, South Beach diet, fasting, etc. I had lost an initial 10-20lbs, gaining some of it back. I started running allot. I ran road races, even a marathon and a few triathlons. I still felt tired and fatigued and I maintained my extra pounds… even when I was training for a marathon! I didn’t realize you can’t work off a bad diet. I also ended up with constant fatigue.

In my late 40’s, I decided to compete in a competition for figures (an all-natural body building competition). I got my diet and workouts from my trainer and ate clean for 12 weeks and felt pretty good. I lost allot of weight and was very lean & muscular. I competed 6 times over 3 years and did quite well. But, before I learned about healthy eating, I did experience binge eating and had a bit of an emotional roller coaster with foods. This is why I became a Health Coach. I wanted to find out more about nutrition and the effect on my body and how I could change my habits.

I was also fascinated with weightlifting, and the positive effect on my body. I felt GREAT, I had no fatigue and have more energy. I wanted to learn more, so I became a Personal Trainer through NASM.

I learned how regular exercise can transform your body with a healthy diet. No more long cardio workouts. 45-minutes resistance training is perfect for me. Resistance training, along with healthy foods has really transformed my body.

After 20 years as an Executive Assistant & Chief of Staff, I wanted to do something I was passionate about. I wanted to go back to school and learn more about nutrition and diets and why they fail. It really struck me that it was really all about our daily habits and how we can change them.

I received my certification as a Health Coach from HCI. Now that I’m working with the older population, I realized I needed more training to be able to help seniors. I took classes from the National Acadamy of Sports Medicine and became a certified Senior Fitness Specialist. I absolutely love training seniors and helping them enjoy life and become stronger.

Each person is unique, and every person has their own vision of health. I can help others to learn healthy lifestyle habits that will last and fun exercise routines. It’s like Energizing your life and feeling the best you can feel EVERYDAY.
